Key Biodiversity Areas (KBA) are designated based on the number of Critically Endangered, Endangered and Vulnerable species as per International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List.
The three, top-ranked KBAs in the Caribbean Islands Hotspot are all in Jamaica and two of these are under direct and immediate threat by bauxite mining interests.
