This estate was originally owned by Samuel & Charles Shaw (or Schaw?).  There may be a mis-spelling here: the estate was spelled "Shawfield" on the notes I saw and this correspnds to the owners name. But it is definitely SCHAW... on today's maps.in 1840 the Jamaica Almanac reports that Schawfield consisted of 834 acres and belonged to the heirs of Samuel Barrett .
